PETA National Seal Slaughter Protest for Tax Day

(Rain or shine)

PETA's national tax day demonstration, taking place in major cities across Canada on April 28. Activists wearing realistic seal masks will make a body pile on a pile of fake money with signs reading 'Seal slaughter bleeds millions in taxes'.

The seal slaughter costs Canadians taxpayers millions of dollars. In 2009, expenses totalled 7 million dollars while the industry brought in only 1 million dollars. Costs include lavish trips to China for seal fur fashion shows, government surveillance of activists, coast guard ships breaking the ice for sealing vessels, and fighting the EU ban to name a few. The only thing keeping the seal slaughter industry alive is Canadian tax dollars. With Tax Day on April 30 looming, the Canadian people, who are by majority opposed to the seal slaughter, deserve to know that their hard earned investments are going towards bashing in the skulls of seals and even skinning seals alive.
