Rideau River islands near Old Ottawa South

Hello all,

Something I only noticed today when using Google Maps were names attached to the islands in the part of the Rideau River west of the Billings Bridge, namely 

• Clifford Allen Island (large island, close to the south shore)
• Crystal Guillot Island (smaller island, close to the north shore)

Does anyone know the story behind these names?

Hi Kathy,

You might want to check with John Bond. I seem to remember him telling me that their family once had a cottage on the bigger island.
