Invitation to Wakefield All-Day
Here are the minutes from today's singing, aka all 27 songs sung today!
Business meeting
We held a business meeting concerning the time and location of the singings during our break. Here's a summary:
We noticed that fewer singers have been making it to the monthly singings in the last 6 months or so and we want to create opportunities for new singers to practice more often and learn the skills if they want to.
The issue may be the location, with Bells Corners not being central enough. We will look into alternative and more central venues. If you have any connections that could facilitate us renting a space where we could sing, let Steph (me) know!
To increase opportunities for learning and for the simple pleasure of singing together, we're proposing to have 2 singings per month: on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.
To figure out the best time and location for everyone who is currently interested in participating, we'll send out a survey to fill out before our next singing.
The next singing will take place on the 3rd Sunday of October: Sunday, October 18, 2-4 p.m. (doors open at 1:45 p.m., singing at 2 p.m. #sharp!) At the Bells Corners United Church!
Facebook group
The private Ottawa Sacred Harp Facebook group will be abolished and you'll be invited to join a new, public Facebook group! This will allow us to reach more people and make our posts shareable. For now, go see
the page, I posted a little clip of what you missed today!
Invitation to the Wakefield Sacred Harp All Day Singing
I'll send a separate email with all the details, but you're invited to join the Wakefield Shape Note Singers in Rupert (La Pêche) for an all-day singing, a potluck-style lunch and a post-singing social! On Saturday, October 11, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. See all the
info and the poster I illustrated
here on Facebook.
