Reminder thatĀ the next singing of theĀ Ottawa Shape NoteĀ groupĀ is on,Ā Sunday, FebruaryĀ 16thĀ in the music room of theĀ Bells Corners United Church.Ā Ā

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and we'll sing from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.Ā with a break in the middle for tea and juice. (Bring your own cup!)Ā Ā Ā

The first half hour of the session will provide more deliberate teaching with help to line out parts and teach newcomers the basics.Ā

To see and hear an example of Sacred Harp singing, see thisĀ video clip.Ā  For more extensive information about the Sacred Harp tradition, seeĀ https://fasola.org.Ā  Another great resource is the Bremen Sacred Harp website (https://sacredharpbremen.org/) which has the sheet music and downloadable music files for each part of all of the Sacred Harp tunes.Ā Ā

Please bring your own mugs and any extra books you can lay your hands on.Ā  Donations to help cover the cost of the hall and extra books would be appreciated.

If you have any symptoms of respiratory infection or other communicable illness, please do not attend.

Map and Directions

The Bells Corners United Church, 3955 Old Richmond Road, near the corner with Moodie (map).Ā  We will be in the music room which is past the sanctuary and then to the left, there will be signs inside the church.

p.s.Ā  If you'd like to warm up your voices ahead of the singing on Sunday, there is a singing in Wakefield tonight.Ā  For more info, contact: Wakefield Sacred Harp .

It may be hard to believe on this gloriously sunny day, but the forecast is showing up to 50 cm of snow on Saturday and Sunday.Ā  The forecast has remained consistent over the past 24 hours and, for this reason, we have decided to cancel the singing on Sunday.Ā

Let's hope that by this time next month, the worst of the winter will be over and that we sing again!
