Reminder that the next singing of theΒ Ottawa Shape Note group is on, Sunday, January 19th in the music room of the Bells Corners United Church.Β Β
Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and we'll sing from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a break in the middle for tea and juice. (Bring your own cup!)Β Β Β
The first half hour of the session will provide more deliberate teaching with help to line out parts and teach newcomers the basics.Β
π©π½βπ€ππ©π½βπ€π©π½βπ€π©π½βπ€β€οΈTo see and hear an example of Sacred Harp singing, see this video clip.Β For more extensive information about the Sacred Harp tradition, see https://fasola.org.Β Another great resource is the Bremen Sacred Harp website (https://sacredharpbremen.org/) which has the sheet music and downloadable music files for each part of all of the Sacred Harp tunes.Β Β
Please bring your own mugs and any extra books you can lay your hands on.Β Donations to help cover the cost of the hall and extra books would be appreciated.
We will have a room ventilator with HEPA filters and will open the partition to the back of the room to increase the air circulation.Β Masks are optional but if you have any symptoms of respiratory infection or other communicable illness, please do not attend.

The Bells Corners United Church, 3955 Old Richmond Road, near the corner with Moodie (map).Β We will be in the music room which is past the sanctuary and then to the left, there will be signs inside the church.
