Hi all:
Happy New Year to everyone! I had a great Christmas holiday,
splitting my time between Ottawa and Hamilton (where Lu is from). This
week is back to the job hunting.
I'd like to challenge everyone to donate whatever they can for the
Tsunami relief efforts. Lu and I have donated, and urge you all to
contribute as well. As someone said the other day, if everyone in the
US would donate only $5, they'd have over $1.5 B to distribute. It
doesn't take much.
On a lighter note, we need to schedule another drink night... Are
Thursdays best for everyone?

Mike

Mike,

Great suggestion about the donations. I used the Red Cross online donation
site last week and it only took 5 minutes and is super easy... I highly
recommend it.

Thursdays would be perfect for me. Looking forward to it. Perhaps somewhere
new and different such as Pub Italia? Another idea is to go skating and then
to Malone's at Dow's Lake or a pub near the NAC afterwards. I notice that
the canal is open again today and I can't wait to get out there!

Cath

Hi Gang;

Great suggestion Mike. We have also donated to the Red Cross and, yes, it is
a cause which is well worth donating to.

Thursdays are typically great and I like the idea of combining it with an
activity ...

Happy 2005 to all ....

Alan

Hi Mike and the gang,

Like others, I found the Canadian Red Cross site to be a good and easy way
to donate.

Please allow me to publicize another way to do some good. The attached email
outlines some details on a benefit concert organized by a bunch of local
bands. I do not know much about the bands other than that the Bush Pilots
are supposed to be quite good.

Julie and I are planning to attend the concert around 2100. Hope to see some
of you there too.

Some basic info on the event:

What: Benefit concert for raise funds for the survivors of the recent
tsunami
When: This Saturday from 1200 to ????
Where: Capital Music Hall,
http://www.ottawaplus.ca/portal/profile.do?profileID=433439, see attached
map
Cost: A minimum of $5 to be donated to Care Canada and World Vision Canada

Steph

Great ideas guys... the tsunami was quite overwhelming destroying all in it's path... shucks!  Anyhow... such is life, and we should do what we can.

Thursday nights sound good... as do any weeknight... as well as Sunday nights at Barrymores!!  Anyhow... do let me know where and when... it would be great to see you... like AK, I was also thinking back to the MBA games... it was so fun... with our bollywood skit and incessant cheering.... when will we ever get to be silly like that again!!!!!!!!

Anyhow... have a great night... and see you soon... M.

Mes amis, j'ai recu une mise a jour en ce qui concerne un concert pour
les sinistres de la tsunami.

A benefit concert will be held Saturday evening at Capital Music Hall to
raise money for the survivors.

My friends band, the Bush Pilots (BPs), will peform with other bands,
including the Barstool Prophets, Big Jesus Truck, Tony D, Good To Go and
others. There are about 12 acts in all starting at around noon. The
BPs will be on at around 9:00 pm. As with all multi-act events the
schedule will surely slip somewhat. Nothing ever runs perfectly on
time.

Minimum donation at the door is $5.00 with proceeds going (according to
my friend Tom Gillon) to CARE Canada and World Vision Canada for
distribution (He is sure about World Vision but could be off on CARE
although I know that there are two groups involved.)

It is also possible that the BPs will be on Breakfast with the New RO on
Friday to promote the benefit and play some songs although given the
short notice this remains unconfirmed.

Hope to see you there.

Tom and Allen

It's my turn to wish you all a happy new year. I hope
that each of you will find the job he/she likes.

I would have loved skating on the Rideau Canal with
you, gang. How was it?

Virginie

Hi everyone,

I just attended a one day seminar on competing for government jobs,
including resume writing, interview skills and competency awareness. I have
piles of information that would be extremely helpful for anyone hoping to
find a job in the government (it is a totally different way of competing
compared to the private sector!). If you are interested in this information,
please let me know and I will make you a copy and bring it tonight.

Cheers,
Catherine
