This weekend you are invited to dedicate a workout to Al. You can do it distanced with a friend or do it solo, but during the workout please take a moment to pause and take a photo. The photo can be of you, your group or where you are. By heading out to honour Al with a workout, he will be in our thoughts alongside the joy of physical activities and the natural environment Al loved so much.
After you complete your outing, please share on your timeline or on this thread with the hashtag #ThanksAl.

Such a mix of emotions being out on my bike and on the running trail this weekend ... enjoying the gorgeous summer weather and the beauty of nature but unable to shake the sorrow of the tragic loss of a good man.  #ThanksAl

Did the 2019 OTC Wednesday 7pm Crew's favourite workout - Al's 300 (100 burpees + 100 situps + 100 dumbell clean to shoulder press), completed in a 1-10-1 pyramid. I didn't know Allan Norris for long, but I'm grateful to have met him.

Al was a participant in the very first class that I coached with the OTC in 2011. His smiling face, happy demeanor, pleasant conversation, and especially his hearty laugh became a regular source of stress relief and motivation for me. Later on, as we saw much less of each other, I always looked forward to re-connecting with him at club events, parties, and coaching sessions.

I was so happy for him when he first told me that he had retired early from work...and then I marveled at the ferocity and passion with which he embraced his new “job” in the community and with all things fitness.  This was a man with no shortness of energy or drive.

Al was, and still is, a role model for me. I will always remember the important life lessons I picked up from him, not necessarily through his words, but through his humble and always thoughtful actions.

I completed the 2nd Annual Cottage Triathlon (socially distanced sprint edition) in Al's honor this past weekend and thought about him throughout.
