Free Public Demonstration

[Ottawa Classical Swordplay]

       We are running a 90 minute interactive demonstration of medieval combat on Sunday, January 15th at the Glebe Community Centre (175 Third Avenue, at Lyon). This presentation is free and open to the public.

    We will demonstrate and explain several techniques for longsword, sword and buckler, dagger and grappling, poleaxe, armoured judicial combat (with spear, sword, and dagger), rapier, and grossemesser. Then we will have a few rounds of competitive freeplay among our members. Cheer for your favorite combatant! If you pick the winner, you could win fabulous Ottawa Classical Swordplay Merchandise!

    Afterwards, the audience is welcome to examine and handle our training equipment, ask questions, and even try out some of the techniques. In addition we will have historically accurate reproductions of 14th century armour to try on (both kids and adult sizes available).
