Has anyone ever done one of these?
They provide pretty much everything for you (tent, food, canoe, etc) and
show you all the places to be.
I want to have an annual canoe/camping trip for me and my son and was
wondering if these are as great as they look.
Buying all the camping stuff (I have some, but not much) I would view as an
investment and in the end probably be cheaper.
I realize that I don't live in your region to be in this newsgroup but its
the only semi-active canoe group I can find.

I think you should join the nearest (you don't say where you are -
maybe China?) club that specializes in paddling. I joined two
whitewater kayak clubs and one canoe club. From the kayak clubs, I was
coached by the national coach, the provincial coach, national and
provincial team members and by some superb recreational river runners.
It's more than just learning. It's a lifelong bond, and obviously, the
skills development is also a lifelong gain. The joy of the experiences
last forever. And, they're very safety oriented. I did the same with
motorcycling. I joined a club that had the top riding outings I could
find with experts. You won't regret joining a great club, and there's
the return you give when you teach others who follow you.
I've been kayaking since the sixties, and canoeing long before that.
Find the best, and listen and watch. Never assume that you've learned
it all. I've read of some of the "bad attitude" paddlers. They died
paddling, because they had underestimated the environment.
Be safe. Be smart. Join the top paddling club you can find, and paddle
on your own jaunts as well.
