The perfect high performance sea kayak for a big man!
Seaward Navigator High Volume
Have you tried a kayak before but found it a little too squeezed? Then
this is the kayak for you, they don't get any bigger than this, and
yet you get excellent performance and the top quality of a Canadian
made Seaward.
Purchased from Frontenac Outfitters in 2002 for $3750, this beauty was
custom designed for 6'4 and 250 pounds and is easily adjusted for a
shorter person. If you weigh less than 200 pounds I would suggest
purchasing a more narrow kayak, comfortable is good but it is
important to be snug enough that you have good control.
17' long with a Greenland style bow (carves through wind and waves
with ease). Despite the huge cargo capacity, it weighs in at just 56
pounds. Burgundy decking with ivory hull. Hardened marine aluminum
rudder.
In addition to the kayak, I've got gear. Lots and lots of gear. We can
negotiate on the gear, but whatever you need, I probably have it,
everything from a top quality Thule roof rack to paddles, skirts, and
straps.
And I've also got a second kayak for sale, a Current Designs GTS High
Volume, which is typically a perfect fit for a female paddler. $900.
Both of these kayaks can be used for paddling that ranges from the
open ocean to your local lake or river. My wife and I have covered
distances of more than 60m in a single day. But we have also enjoyed
leisurely paddles on Meech Lake, Ottawa River, and other local bodies
of water.
If you are new to kayaking, please note that these are not whitewater
kayaks. Those are much shorter and are not useful for travelling long
distances. Sea kayaks like these can handle all sorts of water
conditions including huge waves and wind, but at 17' long they are not
designed for tight turns such as one would make to navigate through
whitewater rapids that are caused by rocks.

if you want to buy new. But I don't recommend it. By the nature of
the sport you are going to get superficial scratches from day one, so
save $2500 and buy used. Plus save a ton on gear.

This sleek sea kayak is ideal for a female paddler or a slender man!
Current Designs Solstice GTS High Volume
Canadian made by Current Designs, this high volume fiberglass version
of the Solstice GTS offers extra storage space, and weighs in at just
52 pounds. Purple deck with white hull.
This is a slender model that carves through the water with ease. I do
not think it would be suitable for a person over 160 pounds. I don't
think it would be too big for any adult, so there is no minimum
weight.

most popular Current Designs kayaks of all time and continues to be

but I highly recommend against buying a new kayak - by the virtue of
the sport superficial scratches are going to occur from day one, so
save $2000 and buy used.
