ott.online is an unmoderated newsgroup for discussion about issues relating
to using and communicating with a computer in the Ottawa-Hull, Canada area.
This specifically includes discussion about and critiques (both good
and bad) about:
o being on the Internet
o Internet Service Providers that provide service to Ottawa
residents
o connecting to other online services located physically in
the area (i.e. BBS's and other public access sites
such as FreeNet's, but not to the non-ISP parts of
CompuServe, Prodigy, etc.)
Announcements about *NEW* *ONLINE* services, be they WWW sites, ISPs,
BBSs, etc. are permitted, but are to be brief, but descriptive. A
short description with a URL given for more information is preferred.
Please note the emphasis on *NEW* and on the word *ONLINE*. A service
can only be new *ONCE*. Ott.online is not a place to reach the general
online community.
The following topics are NOT permitted:
sales of computers -- use ott.forsale.computing
computer store ads -- use ott.business.ads.computers
Commercial posts:
Messages which are deemed "commercial" will be cancelled, regardless of
crossposting and/or Followup-To: headers. See the ott.business.ads charter
for commercial posting rules in the ott.* hierarchy.
Crossposting:
Messages posted to ott.online which are crossposted to other groups
will be cancelled. This includes messages crossposted to other groups in
the ott.* hierarchy. The only exception to this rule is the ott.online charter
itself which is crossposted to ott.config.
