My friend just bought a Suzuki Indtruder 800 2004. Looks nuce but I'm more
tempted to buy the Yamaha Vstar 650. Any comments?
Thanks.

The Suzuki Intruder has a lot more go than the Yamaha 650. The Suzy is an
800, but that is not the only reason it goes faster, faster, it's lighter
and and it has a lot more power. You are not as likely to outgrow it and
want to move up to a faster bike. But if it's the looks you are interested
in you will have to decide which style you prefer.

What about the Honda 750 Shadow Aero
http://www.honda.ca/MotorcycleEng/CurrentModels/Cruiser/VT7504.htm?Year=2004?
As a 2002 Honda 750 Shadow Ace owner (bought Sep 2001 in Victoria BC) I
absolutely love the bike and I am 6 foot 3 approx 200 lbs (yeah I know -
still think imperial) - It has lots of stones and has been a dream to own!!!
My only druther is to have a shaft drive instead of a chain drive (purely
from a maintenance perspective) - I sure liked the convenience of my old
shaftie - an old 82 Suzuki GS-650G . Now Honda has come back with the aero
and has got me thinking hard.....

It would be a better comparison to look at the Shadow 750.

However what about comparing the Volusia 800 to the Shadow 750.

My preference is the Volusia.

Another reason I bought the shadow and didn't look higher was the silly
insurance game out west (and you folks thought it was only bad here).
Anything over 750cc and you pay a very very hefty premium. The shadow weighs
in at 749.5 cc (thereabouts) making my choice at the time so much easier. I
did not want a 650 because of the performance difference and certainly would
have gone bigger if I could. Size was also a factor - the ACE definately has
a big bike feel. Knowing I will be going back to my house out west in
another year or so limits me still...
I am sure the Volusia would be comperable, if not better - a very handsome
bike indeed. Same goes for the Suzuki 800 Intruder although my brother
bought one and sold it shortly after as it was too small for him (he bought
the Intruder 1400 instead and loves it to death). He is a big lad so you can
probably understand why - it looked like he was riding a toy. If you are of
small stature it would be a good choice though.
Good luck in your decision - you can't go wrong any way you.

These are different bikes and styles altoghter. I have an 04 VS 800
Intruder and love it. It's light and very quick. I can't speak for the
Vstar 650, as it was not something I wanted. I have over 4000kms on my
Intruder and still lov'in it....
