Does anyone know what insurance company that would be best for a first
timer. My son, who just turned 24 is considering buying a bike. My insurance
company only will insure after the age of 25 and only on certain
motorcycles.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I am with State Farm and they cover my house, RV, car and motorcycle. I am
over 25 and I get a very good rate. He can try PRIMO. Your son, depending
upon the type of bike and the cc's, may have to pay over $3,000 for 12
months of coverage - no 6 month plan.

Start phoning around, they are all different. When you get a quote, ask for
the quote number, as the price can change within days.
RBC 1-800-769-2526
Primmum 1-866-454-8911
State Farm
Good luck, John

I just switched to State Farm but you need a clean record (no tickets or
convictions). I do have two claims which they asked about a not at fault
and a comprehensive.

I was with RBC and they are not bad when compared to Primmum. Going to RBC
last year saved me about 200 from Primmum. This year I am saving $600 on
the bike but pay about 100 more on my car.

Moral, try state farm first.

Hi!

I use a company called Riders Plus Insurance. The cheapest is State Farm
but you need a clean record and you MUST insure a car with the bike.

Riders Plus can be found here: http://www.ridersplus.com/

They're pretty good :)

My house, two cars and my bike is with State Farm for over 25 years. I have
a clean driving record, but RBC offered me a policy $200 less than State
Farm.
Like I said, shop around.

Tied insurance selling is illegal in Ontario. State Farm cannot refuse
you coverage on you bike if they don't have your car insurance. However
I am sure they can arange some discount, but like I said tied selling is
illegal.

Cheers,

Rob

If an insurance company will only sell me one type of insurance if I have
another (bike if I have car with them etc...) then I don't want their
coverage. A buck or two isn't worth it. This does not mean if there is a
deal package they 'offer' I won't consider it.
