Pierre, my last issue of Motorrad magazine had a 100,000 kilometer long term
test (too bad our superficial rags consider a 1500 km ride a long term
test - hell, that's a day ride!).

They listed all parts and service during the span of the test and
disassembled the motor and transmission to take measurements to see how they
compared to "new", "in tolerance" and "out of tolerance" specifications.

Interested in the results? It did quite well.

All the best,
Alex

Thanks for the heads up. I went to Motorrad online but of
course they only give the teaser intro then you have to
subscribe to see the rest.

I would be very interested in the results, even in german

Well I'll translate, so don't worry about it.

When and where?

Pierre and Alex,
I'm heading west on my FJR today as far as I can go...any chance we could
meet up around Barry's Bay or Denbigh?

And we just happened to meet Bruce at Timmy's in Gananoque, just before
12:00...

We had a great ride, my wife and I, putting in about 400kms. Weather was
co-operating and the roads were fairly deserted.

MIKE - tried to send below msg using your "algonquin.on.ca" address, but it
keeps bouncing back. Please send me a reply with your "real" one when you
have a chance.

Thanks,
Bruce

Mike,

I have to tell you that it was a real pleasure meeting up with yourself and
your wife yesterday in Gan. As it turns out, after chatting with that other
fellow with the bike at Tim's, I did follow your advice and take 10 up to
Westport from Kingston, and was not disappointed with the scenery on that
beautiful drive. I then took 36 North, which was equally as challenging
(with all those curves - very careful with the gravel on the asphalt!), but
it just seemed to end and split up into 8 and 12 at one point whereupon I
ambled back to Perth. I got in just as it was getting dark, and was cooling
down a little. I think my map must be outdated, I missed a turn, or both.

I have lived in Ottawa all my life, save for university, and never even knew
roads like that existed! Would love to get together again with you two
sometime if you are riding again...

Again, a real pleasure to meet you and your wife.

All the best,

Bruce

The college went from algonquinc.on.ca to algonquincollege.com a few
years ago... Both work but you need the c in algonquinc... Did I forget
to add that in my "reply to" address? I'll have to check. I post from a
number of different computers.

It was good to meet you too, Bruce. We'll have to go for another ride
before too long with you. Mind you, you'll have to diconnect a couple of
your cylinders so we can keep up!

For those with an interest, visit
http://www.dirks-motorradseiten.de/
and click FJR 1300, then Presse and Motorrad 23/03.
It's written in German but the Google auto translation does
a rudimentary translation.
