DevOps/Build Engineer (Ottawa, ON)
- Adopt, maintain, enhance, and evolve automated DevOps systems
- These systems are responsible for building the product, running multiple types of automated unit, integration, environment, and GUI-level system tests, deploying staging environments, and releasing products
Responsibilities
- Monitor the DevOps pipeline and triage blockages, escalating code-based automation failures to development as needed
- Identify and resolve build, environmental, and deployment issues in DevOps systems
- In collaboration with management, teammates, and other teams, establish, document, communicate, and implement short and longer-term roadmaps for the DevOps system
- Implement changes in an Agile way, while working towards the long-term roadmap
Required Background and Skills
- 3+ years working on Build/DevOps systems
- Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or additional relevant experience)
- Experience with Jenkins (or similar frameworks such as Hudson or Bamboo)
- Experience with scripting languages (batch, ShellScript, AppleScript, Python, Perl, etc.)
- Experience working with Windows, Mac, and Linux environments
- Experience with testing frameworks (Selenium, JUnit)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Nice To Have
- Knowledge of Virtualization (e.g. HYPER-V, EC/2, AWS), including maintaining and configuring VMs
- Familiarity with Cloud deployments and Cloud Marketplaces (AWS, Azure, and Google)
- Familiarity with Cloud storage (S3, Azure, Swift, Wasabi)
- Knowledge of Relational Databases (e.g. MySQL), database mgmt tools (e.g. PhpMyAdmin), and SQL
- Knowledge of Web servers (e.g. Grizzly, Tomcat, IIS)
- Experience with Windows Installers (Inno Setup)
- Experience with Mac Installers (Packages)
- Experience working for a small company
- Permanent
- Salary based on experience
