WOW it was a great event this last weekend. The rain
washed away most of the tracks and I was a bit worried that we would
have nothing. But we were blessed when we came across a set of doe
tracks that were probably only 1-2 hours old. We blasted thru the wall
of 50 tracks, and I am guessing we had close to 250 tracks in a row.
We even tracked the doe back to where she bedded down for the night,
finding her first track of the day. It was a great experience, we were
so excited we were crawling thru the mud and rain. What a great way to
wrap up 2007.

OTS CLASSES NEXT MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday January 26th will be our Shelter Class.
In this course, participants will not only learn the
fundamental principles of shelter construction using natural
materials, they will also get hands-on experience building a shelter.
We will explore the needs and skills necessary to provide yourself
adequate shelter for both immediate emergency situations and longer
term wilderness living scenarios.
As a part of learning shelter, students can make their own primitive
shelter and stay the night, getting the full Arkansas experience of
sleeping in the wild.

Sunday January 27th will be our Fire Class.
In this class we will not only teach you how to start a one match
fire, but will also teach fire-building with NO MATCHES! Two
primitive friction fire methods will be covered, as well as the use of
modern tools such as flint and steel. Whether you are an experienced
camper or have never started a campfire yourself, this class will give
you the skills to start a fire in any conditions Arkansas has to
offer.
go to www.ozarktrackers.org for more info!

So to add some icing onto the cake, we are getting a set
of John Youngs tracking books that we will be using for next year as
our manual. Even better, they will be signed by John Young himself!
Let us know if you want one of these we will be getting them in soon!

I hope to see this list grow and grow, please let me
know if there is anything else we can do to make 2008 a tracking year
to remember!!

PS look under files on the right hand side, I have added some
Pictures!

Cost?  Discount for both classes?  Not that I won't learn anything, but may I attend the firebuilding class for no cost and assist (or not)?
