Hello,

We have a doubt with the design of our experiment. Basically we make groups, where each group plays at the same time.

There are times when participants have to wait for another participant. We want to do it using prolific. Our question is what to do if, for example, one of them leaves. Because in that case the rest of the group could not finish. Or if it takes too long. There is the option that the experimenter will take control of the session from the participant who has left, but I don't think that is the best option.

Have you been in this case? What have you done?

Thanks in advance

Hi Francisco,
I had the same concerns in a previous experiment and used timeouts (https://otree.readthedocs.io/en/latest/timeouts.html) on each page. You can even let dropouts continue to play as a bot. See here: https://otree.readthedocs.io/en/latest/multiplayer/waitpages.html#preventing-players-from-getting-stuck-on-wait-pages.
Best,
Felix
