Itis very tedious trying to find what triggered the camera especially if the recording is long on my SD card. A fast forward would really be nice on v1. Otherwise a great system, just ordered more v2 cameras. I like you can expand the time line with a swipe but it does not help on long recordings.
1 month ago today (4/20/24), we purchased an Arlo Essential Outdoor 2nd Gen camera to replace our older Arlo camera. The camera worked very well and gave us a notification on our cell phones and iPads when someone was recorded as well as a 30-second video recording. We setup the free one month Arlo Secure Plan to only give us notifications on our iPhones and iPads and a 30-second video but we did not activate anything else (light, alarm, etc.) because we did not want those services and we decided that we were not going to keep the Secure Plan once the free 30-day trail ended. We received emails from Arlo telling us our one-month free subscription was expiring on 4/20. This morning (4/20), the camera was working as usual until around 10 am when Arlo must have pulled the plug on the trial Arlo Secure Plan. Now all we get are 3-5 quick notifications on our phones when someone activates the camera (instead of one like it used to do while the plan was in place) and we no longer receive any video as we used to. We have checked our settings but everything seems to be in order. QUESTION: WHEN ARLO ENDED/DISCONNECTED THE FREE ARLO SECURE THIS MORNING, DID THAT CAUSE OUR CAMERA TO NO LONGER DISPLAY VIDEO IMAGES WHEN SOMEONE ACTIVATES THE CAMERA? DO WE NEED TO REINSTALL THE CAMERA TO GET THE VIDEO RECORDING TO WORK AGAIN? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Live steam is worthless. The Arlo box does NOT state a subscription is REQUIRED. Costco will take the product back up to 90 days. Subscription fee is too expensive! When the time comes, the subscription fee does not capture the thief.
The picture below is from the 2nd gen essential box, but same text is on the 1st gen box. On my first gen box, it is actually listed twice - once on the side panel that says "Protect and connect from anywhere", and again on the opposite panel that says "Peace of mind in the palm of your hand."
Packaging might have changed over time - and I've never gotten a camera from Costco. But every Arlo box I've seen for a camera that requires a subscription has similar text somewhere on the box. Unfortunately the text is usually quite small.
I looked at the new Arlo box again. NO notice of the required subscription on the FRONT side. I then looked at the BACK side with more of the product photos and NO subscription notices. I looked at the small side describing how to control the Arlo tools, without NO subscription requirements. Then I looked at the 4th side of the box and IN SIZE 4 FONT, (requiring a magnifying glass), I now see the subscription notice on the far bottom. I stand corrected, (photo attached).
Whole heartedly agree, this is nothing more than pure greed and why I have told anyone thinking of getting any Arlo camera to run in the other direction. These are basically useless pieces of junk if you don't keep forking over money despite having paid for the equipment which you should be able to use without paying anything further. The only way to stop the behavior of companies like this is to spread the word so people know there are far superior options out their.
Thankfully I didn't pay for the four pack essential outdoor Gen2 cameras that I have and will probably just eBay them. Have better 2K cameras from my local hardware store that provide continuous recording at no additional charge and I can just store to my local router and sync directly to whatever cloud account I like. You are far better off getting a security system that provides local storage capability because you can chose whatever cloud storage you like to then sync that to if you want stuff stored in the cloud.
The hardware is not too bad but not allowing customers to use them as intended without continually forking out for something they have already paid for is just a ripoff. Spread the word for people to look elsewhere, there are superior options without the recurring bills.
Oh, and $10.75 per camera for CVR, what a joke, if I were to pay that for the essential kit I won that would end up costing me almost $60 per month to record what I should be allowed to store locally an on simple NAS device.

Because the Arlo Pro 4 is battery-powered, it needs regular charging: Although Arlo claims a charge length of six months, our testing suggests that a one- to two-month estimate is closer, depending on how often the camera is triggered.
Although the Eufy Solo IndoorCam C24 delivers vivid 2K images for live viewing or recording to a microSD card, it downgrades clips stored on NAS devices and in the cloud to 1080p resolution. In our tests we always found its images to be sharp regardless of the storage method, but if 2K resolution is important to you, opt to use a microSD card.
The Netvue Birdfy Feeder AI ($274.99) is a neat tech toy for backyard birdwatchers and naturalists. The feeder's security camera records birds when they stop by for a snack to either cloud or local storage, sends those videos to your phone over Wi-Fi, and then tries to identify the species of your avian guests. The latter feature is hit or miss, however, and the 1080p camera's wide-angle lens doesn't output very impressive results. We slightly prefer the subscription-free Birdfy over the similar Birdkiss, which require a monthly plan and doesn't do as well with tagging, but the cloud-based Birdbuddy Smart Feeder ($249.99) remains our Editors' Choice winner for this category because of its higher-quality lens and ability to filter out poor pics.
The Birdfy is one of many smart bird feeders on the market that relies on an off-the-shelf security camera. These cameras, which typically have very wide-angle lenses, start recording automatically whenever they detect motion and save those recordings fairly indiscriminately to local or cloud storage. I've reviewed the very similar Birdkiss, though you can find tons of no-name alternatives on Amazon from the likes of Soliom, BirdDock, LongPlus, and Auxco.
