So continuing on with the topic of ordering in a Japanese restaurant, this next one is shou shou omachi kudasai (Please wait a little while.).  This is what you'd hear from the waiter after you place your order.

So I will now continue on with the topic of the Japanese Empire.  Shortly after the borders were opened, resistance to the trade arose among the Japanese citizens.  They felt the trade deals were unfair and the Japanese were being exploited.  The title of the shogun was abolished and many people had their lands confiscated.  This led to a rebellion attempt on the emperor that ended in the emperor's victory because even though the shoguns were more battle experienced, the emperor had more modern weapons.  After visiting other countries to learn how they were run, the emperor adopted their ways to Japan but this meant outlawing the samurai and confiscating their weapons.  This lead to a major civil war between the emperor and the samurai which ended with the samurai's defeat and death after they refused to surrender, putting an end to the era of the samurai.  Writers were then forced to have to say positive things about the new era in their books, and Japan continued to modernize in ways that I'll continue with next week.
