Dear Otaku Illustrated Subscriber,

So continuing on with the topic of ordering in a Japanese restaurant, this week I'll be covering the next most useful phrase to know which is onegaishimasu (please). This is used to both order and ask for things. So if you want a menu, you'd say to the waiter menyuu onegaishimasu (menu please). If you want a glass of water, you'd say to the waiter omizu onegaishimasu (water please). If you want the check, you'd say to the waiter okanjyou onegaishimasu (check please).

So let's take a look at another one of the big reasons for why the Xbox is a failure in Japan. And this one would be because the Japanese found it hard to trust Microsoft for another reason. They had an antitrust lawsuit against them because of them having a monopoly on computers. So this made the Japanese gaming companies see Microsoft as a trojan horse that could make them lose control over their businesses like what happened to IBM. This is why when Microsoft suggested a partnership at first, Sony told them no. It's also why the original Xbox was so huge and bulky, because Microsoft had to make their own circuit boards because the Japanese circuit board manufacturer that worked with Sony also told Microsoft no.

I remember hearing about this baby and at first it didn't sound like it'd be very interesting. Boy was I proven wrong, as this baby went on to become very hugely popular. So now I'm kind of wishing I had decided to check it out back when it first came out. But at the very least, I can make sure that I don't make that same mistake with the movie. If you feel the same way as I do, we can both pre - order ours below:
