Saturday 25th July 90 mins Rogaine Start - 1730 (5.30pm) Finish 1900 (7pm)
- Please complete this registration by midnight Tuesday 21st July. Spare maps are not guaranteed for anyone who turns up on the night.
- Solos and teams welcome - everyone to carry a (charged and working) mobile phone, at least one good torch per person (and spare batteries), and solos to carry a whistle as well. The phone is to call the Planner (number on map) should they be later than 1715 (7.15pm). There is good phone reception in most of the event area.
- Teams must stick together for the entire event duration. Teams, in the past, have been seen "sending" someone to find the checkpoint whilst they rest of the team wait - this is a night time event - please stay together at all times, and find all controls together.
- Bring at least one ink or permanent pen to write down the 3 letter answers on the provided waterproof paper answersheet. You receive one answersheet per team/solo.
- PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT WILL BE ENTIRELY IN THE DARK. Try and wear something reflective or light coloured so you are clearly visible to any evening bikers riding up behind you, or down from above.
- PLEASE DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THIS MIDWINTER EVENT.
- You must report to the Finish even if you decide to finish early.
- We are grateful to Mountain Biking Otago for their track building work, and their permission to use this area and the carpark.
Event centre & timing.
Start/Finish at Mountain Bike carpark between Logan Park High School and Signal Hill bike tracks.
The map stretches from the memorial at the top (330m) down to sea level, including adjacent Ōpoho, Dundas St and Lovelock Ave areas.
Prizegiving for the School Series will be held in the carpark at 1600hrs (4.30pm)
Registration and map handout from 1630.
Please arrive in time to have registered by 1700. Briefing at 1715, Mass start at 1730 (5.30pm).
Finish at 1900hr (7pm).
Sunset is just after 5pm, but down in the valley start area it will be darker, sooner, and very dark in the forest.
Controls have scores according to their first digit, e.g. control 12 = 10pts, control 83 = 80 points, etc.
Don't be late back as -30 pts per minute (or part thereof) late is the late penalty.
Sturdy footwear is a must, as conditions are very slippery and muddy. A compass is a useful tool in dark conditions with many criss-crossing MTB tracks to interpret. You may want some plastic bags & a change of footwear in the car for muddy gear before you head home.
