Catherine Eaton Skinner: Obscura Flora
February 14 - March 14, 2025
In her most recent body of work titled Obscura Flora, Catherine Eaton Skinner continues her ongoing exploration of botanical form through the photo-encaustic method. Inspired largely by the artist’s own garden, the works began as black-and-white pinhole photographs sealed in beeswax and subtly painted with layers of oil sticks. Through repeated remelting, color and image fuse into a single, integrated surface, where photography and painting converge.

Artists in Conversation
Saturday, February 21, 4-5 pm

Janet Russek and David Scheinbaum will be joined at the gallery by Elizabeth "Liz" Glassman, art historian and former President and CEO of the Terra Foundation for American Art, which established and oversaw the Museum of American Art in Giverny. A specialist in prints, drawings, and photography, Liz brings insight to this discussion of the artists’ work at Giverny, a perspective further reflected in her contribution to their forthcoming book.
