Catherine Eaton Skinner: Obscura Flora
February 14 - March 14, 2025
Catherine Eaton Skinner, Flora XVII, Flora XX, Flora XVII, 2025, encaustic
In her most recent body of work titled Obscura FloraCatherine Eaton Skinner continues her ongoing exploration of botanical form through the photo-encaustic method. Inspired largely by the artist’s own garden, the works began as black-and-white pinhole photographs sealed in beeswax and subtly painted with layers of oil sticks. Through repeated remelting, color and image fuse into a single, integrated surface, where photography and painting converge.
