Hi everyone,
This Friday, April 17, let’s hike the classic La Luz trail in the Sandias to the “lunch spot.” It’s about 8 miles round trip with a 2,000 ft. gain. The Sierra Club Day Hikes book describes the hike as, “This is a hike up a magnificent granite escarpment to
the top of the Sandias, with spectacular cliffs and spires and bird’s eye views of Albuquerque below. The scenery is outstanding from beginning to end.” We’ll stop for lunch at a lookout point with 360 degree views and then descend back to our cars.
Those who wish to continue can hike another 7 miles to the Sandia Crest and either hike back or take the cable car down to the lower tram terminal and then hike
another 2 miles to their car or set up a car shuttle.
We'll meet at the Fashion Outlets Mall (8380 Cerrillos Rd), behind the Inn at Santa Fe at 8am. We expect to be back by 4pm. The weather should be perfect for this hike.
Best,
Rochelle
