Thumbnails on Mountain Lion / Lion

it seems that Mountain Lion / Lion ignores the .ql_thumbnails & .ql_disablecache control files which results in Finder forcing a download of certain graphic files / mp3's etc from the remote location. This worked with OSXFuse in SL. Anyone managed to find a way around this ?
