Hi,

Very cool product, but I am having a little problem with respect to
ctrl-F2 to get to the menu bar. I use a new Macbook Air 13" AND also
an external microsoft laser desktop keyboard. Neither ctrl-F2 nor F3
work on either of the keyboards. I can never get focus to the menu
bar or the dock with the keyboard.

How can I go about making these work. I have also tried to uninstall
keyremap4macbook, without success.

I tried to post this to another topic, but I'm not sure whether that
was successful, so I started a new topic as well.

thanks very much for your help!

Hi,

Did you activate any settings in KeyRemap4MacBook?
If so, tell me the settings.

If not, I guess you have disabled control+F2 and control+F3 from
"System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts".

Thanks! Here's what I have:

1) I downloaded and installed the newer build... 7.3.27
2) I currently have:

control_L to Command_L (except virtual machine, rdc)
Excel:
- change f2 to ctrl+u
- change f4 to command+t

I don't see anywhere in keyboard settings>keyboard shortcuts that I
have (or even could have) disable ctrl+f2 or ctrl+f3. I have checked
"all controls" under Full Keyboard Access.

thx

Actually, I am now realizing that Ctrl seems to have the exact same
functionality as Command. I don't know why that is!

That was actually the problem... there was a setting that wasnt
showing up that was activated (convert L_ctrl to command). All good
now... thanks!!!

It's good!

Another solution:
Use this private.xml if you need to change Control_L to Command_L.
This private.xml changes Command+F2 to Control+F2 (and F3).

Thanks. Two things:

1) how do I use the private xml (
2) is it possible, within excel, to still have f2 enter the edit mode
for a cell, but also have ctrl+f2 (or command+f2, here) access the
menu bar?

thank you very much for your incredible responsiveness!!

Best

Hi,

(1) How to use private.xml.

http://pqrs.org/macosx/keyremap4macbook/document.html#t3

(2) Yes. I updated private.xml. Try it.
(I also added pressing Option only to Control+F2).
