spanish keyboard for programming

Hi

The Spanish keyboard is not efficient for programming and so I'm trying to do the remapping implemented here https://github.com/albertodenia/spanish-dev-keyboard-layout but using Karabiner as the file in this repo no longer seems to work. 

I'm not getting very far and I'm wondering if they Spanish keyboard isn't able to be used to Karabiner. For example I want to remap ´ to { and ç to } but I don't see most of these characters in the Karabiner elements simple modifications section. The { and } characters both need to be accessed with the option key. I read somewhere { can be called left bracket on the US keyboard but I also don't see this in the list of keys to remap with simple modifications. Am I missing something here?
