Hi,

I have got a new mini keyboard (Magicforce [1]) and I'd like to figure out a way to move the Fn key away from the first row (this keyboard has 6 keys on the command row: Ctrl Cmd Alt and then Fn Alt Ctrl).

EventViewer doesn't show anything when this key is pressed alone. (the Fn key on the rMBP is shown in the EventViewer). I am wondering if there's a way to determine if the key actually emits a key code alone or if it can be used only with other keys.

Not sure this will help, but this is the information I'm seeing in EventViewer under Devices:

VendorID: 0x04d9
ProductID: 0x0024
Manufacturer: HOLDCHIP
DeviceName: USB Gaming Keyboard

Thanks a lot,

:- alex )

Unfortunately, generally Karabiner does not support the fn key in
non-Apple keyboards.

Please confirm your fn key in debug mode.
If there are some output in debug mode, you might change the key.

Thanks for the quick follow up. There is no output in debug mode either, so it looks like I won't be able to change it.

I have mapped Caps key to Ctrl so I have it now on both sides of the keyboard and that should be good enough for me (at least after I'll teach myself to skip pressing the Fn key when wanting to use the Alt key:-)

Thanks again for such a great application! It's truly amazing.

Using the dip-switch you can swap FN and Windows. And after you can remap Windows and AltGr to swap between them.
Due to the fact Fn key doesn't send any code to the operating system but is used internally by the keyboard for it's own functions.
