Toggling "Allow" button in Security & Privacy System Preferences Leads to Non-responsive Keyboard and Mouse

For Karabiner, when I press the "allow" button in Security & Privacy System Preferences on my MacBook, my computer's keyboard and mousepad stop responding to any input. This happens no matter what I do. I really need to connect this controller to use Anki so its very frustrating. I hope someone can help.
