Simple Modification Not Working

Hello. 

I have an 8bitDo zero2 controller and am trying to do some simple modifications, letter keys to numbers.

Mac Monterrey OS 12.4
Karabiner 14.8.0
Macbook M2 Air

I've installed and reinstalled many times.  Any tips?
