Control -> Space Bar delay setting

I have the Control mapped to the Space so that can use it with all of the emacs key combinations. I obviously want it to continue to act as the Space key when not used in combination with other keys. But I find when I type quickly I find that it acts as the Control key which gives me very unexpected results as it triggers all sorts of key bindings. What setting can I use to fine tune this behavior? 

It looks like all the timing settings are under Key Repeat in the settings. Is it Simultaneous Key Presses? I am not sure what Delay Threshold of Key means. All of the different settings and their functions don't appear to be documented. Is that correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

There are some options.

Increasing the following value allows you to delay control event.
* Preferences > Key Repeat > Advanced ... > Key Overlaid Modifier >
Initial Modifier Wait

Another way, you can change the space key to the control key only when
you hold the space key until other key is released.
Please use new setting that will be added by this private.xml:
