I have a xlsx file with game names, their prices and the links to their sites where we can find them. I'm trying to make a program where someone can type one word and the program will search for every game with this word in its name and show its price and link.

Currently, obsidian only allows pdfs and images to be added to the edtior.
It would be helpful to have the ability to insert/embed file formats other than pdf. I work with a lot of excel and word files and it helps having those files linked to notes for reference.

Windows file names have two parts separated by a period: first, the file name, and second, a three- or four-character extension that defines the file type. In expenses.xlsx, for example, the first part of the file name is expenses and the extension is xlsx.

Microsoft Excel 2007, along with the other products in the Microsoft Office 2007 suite, introduced new file formats. The first of these (.xlsx) is defined in the Office Open XML (OOXML) specification.

In Microsoft Excel 95 and earlier versions, the password to open is converted to a 16-bit key that can be instantly cracked. In Excel 97/2000 the password is converted to a 40-bit key, which can also be cracked very quickly using modern equipment. As regards services that use rainbow tables (e.g. Password-Find), it takes up to several seconds to remove protection. In addition, password-cracking programs can brute-force attack passwords at a rate of hundreds of thousands of passwords a second, which not only lets them decrypt a document but also find the original password.

The situation changed fundamentally in Excel 2007, where the modern AES algorithm with a key of 128 bits started being used for decryption, and a 50,000-fold use of the hash function SHA1 reduced the speed of brute-force attacks down to hundreds of passwords per second. In Excel 2010, the strength of the protection by the default was increased two times due to the use of a 100,000-fold SHA1 to convert a password to a key.

The reason is for calculation ambiguity with linked cells. If there is a cell ='[Book1.xlsx]Sheet1'!$G$33, and there are two books named "Book1" open, there is no way to tell which one the user means.[96]

Included in Office 2007. This release was a major upgrade from the previous version. Similar to other updated Office products, Excel in 2007 used the new Ribbon menu system. This was different from what users were used to, and was met with mixed reactions. One study reported fairly good acceptance by users except for highly experienced users and users of word processing applications with a classical WIMP interface, but was less convinced in terms of efficiency and organization.[107] However, an online survey reported that a majority of respondents had a negative opinion of the change, with advanced users being "somewhat more negative" than intermediate users, and users reporting a self-estimated reduction in productivity.

My copy of LibreOffice, version 3.5.0rc3, is capable of opening and saving xlsx files. Presumably any version after that will, and probably some version before. LibreOffice has more community developed plugins in its package, so OpenOffice may not have xlsx capabilities.

Note: LibreOffice Calc yelled at me when closing a modified .xlsx file. He asked me if I wanted to "use the default ODF file format to be sure that the document is saved correctly". I personally consider that to be my employer's problem.

I am a little bit confused. Please re-test your scenario and choose OOXML format. docx\pptx\xlsx formats are related to OOXML. As you see in the video from my previous post, I set OOXML and file was saved as docx\xlsx.
If I misunderstood the situation, please provide us with details.

By having each principal investigator, co-PI and other senior project personnel individually upload an .xlsx document, and having Research.gov perform all of the conversions, we preserve searchable text in the resulting PDFs to the greatest extent practicable. This will help reduce the burden on NSF program staff who currently must spend time to manipulate files that are non-searchable.

Worksheet level passwords in Excel offer very weak protection. They do notencrypt your data and are very easy to deactivate. Full workbook encryptionis not supported by XlsxWriter. However, it is possible to encrypt anXlsxWriter file using a third party open source tool called msoffice-crypt. This works for macOS, Linux andWindows:

You are free to import your old Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, or save your work in Excel format for sending to people who are using Microsoft products. Calc is able to read .xlsx files created with Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac OS X.
