The Admissions Committee expects that personal statements will be no
longer than two typed double-spaced pages. Personal statements should
address the following:

1) The applicant's background in chemistry.

2) The applicant's reasons for applying to our program (what
research being conducted here is interesting to the applicant)

3) The applicant's goals for their future as a chemist.

It is also appropriate for the applicant to use the Personal Statement
to briefly
highlight and explain any possible deficiencies in their application.
Applicants need not go
into too much detail - simply state the concern and offer brief
explanation. If the committee needs more information, then they will
contact the applicant for more information.
