Hi all,

Please tell me how to handle the redhat iso file. I download the
redhat-7.0-i386-disc1.iso and redhat-7.0-i386-disc2.iso from redhat
ftp.site, and burn to cd-rom, please tell me how to install the red hat 7.0
from the cd-rom(the cd-rom have redhat-7.0-i386-disc1.iso &
redhat-7.0-i386-disc2.iso). Thanks.

Did you burn the CD using the .iso file as a disk image? (Some older
software does not recognize the .iso format as a CD image.) If you did,
read the README file and follow the instructions. If you did not (a dir or
ls of the CD shows the .iso file, not the RedHat files and directories) you
need to burn your CD again ("Create CD from Disk Image..." in my software)
using the .iso file as a disk image, not a file.

Once you have a proper disk image, there are two ways to get started. If
your computer can boot from the CD-ROM, set it to do this and go from there.
If your PC cannot boot from CD-ROM, or won't boot from this CD, make a boot
floppy (the instructions are in the README file), boot from this, and
install.

Good luck, and have fun!

I did the same thing with a Debian iso image. You can't just burn the iso
to disk as an ordinary file, because then you end up with a cd with just
one very large iso file. Is this what you did?

If you are burning under windows, there should be an option in the cd
write software to write an iso image. I used "Adaptec", and this option
was present under one of the menus. Under linux, cdrecord has a -data
option.

i use the same Adaptec which under file has an opetion " make a cd
from cd image " and change the file extention to iso and this will
make it fine to burn it.

the other thing is you did burn it right and you want to know how to
install it , the best way is to restart your PC and go to bois and
change the boot sequance and make the 1st one is CD and you will go
directly to the redhat ...have fun.
