WE ARE HIRING!
Campus Recycling is hiring for one student to assist with educating the OSU community about recycling, starting in early March 2011. The student will assist with Earth Week and residence hall move-out week in spring 2011 and may stay on through the summer and into the following academic year. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
 
E-waste Collection Events - February 24 and 25
  • Thurs, Feb. 24 and Fri, Feb. 25, 1-hr shifts between 12pm and 5pm
  • Memorial Union Quad
  • Volunteer in the MU Quad, accepting electronic waste for our e-waste recycling events! Choose one-hour shifts between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm on one or both days. New to RecycleMania? Read more about it here.

Clothes and Household Doo-Dad Swap
Tues, Feb 22 and Wed, Feb 23, 11am-2pm
MU Brickmall
Bring at least one piece of clothing or household item you no longer need, and swap for something else you want! Please bring items that are in clean and working condition, and of reasonable size (can be carried to and from campus easily).  Sponsored by Peer Health Advocates.

Bring broken and unwanted electronics (computers, monitors, TVs, etc) for free recycling (all fees will be waived)! Please no batteries, light bulbs, paint, chemicals, or other non-electric hazardous waste. Please bring large quantities (greater than 10 items) directly to the Surplus warehouse if possible. Items will be responsibly recycled in Portland, OR by Computer Drive Connection. Sponsored by ASOSU, Campus Recycling, Surplus Property, and UHDS.

Residence Hall Recycling Competition Waste Audits - March 7 and 11

·         Mon, Mar. 7 and Fri, Mar. 11, any time 9am-4pm

·         Recycling Warehouse, 644 SW 13th St

·         Join us to conduct dumpster audits for a residence hall competition; volunteer for any length of time between 9am and 4pm on Monday and/or Friday. Help us achieve our goal of auditing a dumpster from every hall, and become an expert on how to recycle at the same time! The hall with the lowest % (by weight) of recyclables in their dumpster will win a prize! New to RecycleMania? Read more about it here.

Make Your Own Menstrual Pads

Tired of stuffy “sanitary napkins”? Consider homemade menstrual pads! They are comfortably customized to your use and preference, and are a healthy alternative to the variety of chemicals found in synthetic products. Nothing to buy and nothing to throw out! “On the Rag” never felt this good.  This intimately set class gets women together to design and fashion reusable cloth menstrual pads. Recycle Fashion Show

Thurs, Mar 3, 7pm (doors open at 6pm); MU Ballroom ($5)

OSU students showcase their sense of design through the OSU Fashion Organization's annual Recycle Fashion Show. This year's show, Dumpsters to Diamonds, is sure to bring in a record amount of spectators and student designers. Tickets are $5 each and will be sold in the MU Quad Feb 28 through Mar 3 at 10am - 2pm each day. The show will start promptly at 7pm on March 3, with standing room being let in at 7pm. Show Your Pride Craft Party
