Hello Recycling Enthusiasts,

 

Students are trickling back into town, classes are going to resume in a couple weeks, and even Corvallis weather is currently giving us a preview of fall. In a couple weeks it will be CONNECT Week – on September 19-25 this year, this is the week just before classes when the campus awakens and is full of fun events for all incoming students. Campus Recycling is participating – and needs your help!

 

SEPTEMBER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

Event Recycling: MOVE-IN DAY RECYCLING GUIDES - September 19

• Sunday, 9/19 - 6:00-10:00 am, 9:00 am-1:00 pm, and 1:00-5:00 pm
• OSU residence hall (will be assigned)
• Please join UHDS in welcoming new students and their families as they arrive on campus Sunday, September 19!  Help people dispose of their cardboard and recyclables correctly - stationed at recycle/disposal areas. Shifts are 4 hours or more and all volunteers receive an event t-shirt, lanyard, and $5 meal card good at any UHDS dining facility for one week!

Tabling: NEW STUDENT PICNIC- September 21

• Tuesday, 9/21 - 4:30-7:30 pm (choose any start & end time; help especially needed 4:30-6:30)
• Memorial Union Quad, OSU
• Table with Andrea to educate incoming students about recycling on campus and encourage them to become a recycling volunteer.

Event Recycling: UNIVERSITY DAY - September 23

• Thursday, 9/23 - 12:00-2:00 pm
• CH2M Hill Alumni Center, OSU
• Sign up to staff a recycling station - greeting attendees and helping them sort their waste into compost, recycling, and trash. Free meal for volunteers.

CONNECT Week Sustainability Fair

• Thursday, Sept 23
• 3:00-6:00 pm (+ tours on the half hour)
• Student Sustainability Center, 738 SW 15^th St
• Come check out the Student Sustainability Center to see all the fun sustainability activities and programs going on at OSU! We are providing FREE FOOD and drinks catered by the First Alternative Co-op. Guided tours every half hour at the Center will give students the opportunity to learn about our organic garden, Solar Trailer, and the cool projects happening on campus and within the community.
