VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

Help with the res hall donation drive June 9, 10, 13 & 14!

• WHEN: Any time between 8 am and 5 pm on Thursday, Friday, Monday, and Tuesday, June 9, 10, 13 & 14
• WHERE: OSU Recycling/Surplus, 644 SW 13th St
• WHAT: Did you know that more trash is produced during the annual residence hall move-out week than most any other time of year? It doesn't have to be - and you can help! Assist with the donation drive and recycling collection by receiving and sorting material with us in the warehouse or joining our crew to go out on collection routes! You choose your own shift times and length between 8 am and 5 pm on one of the four dates listed above.

Collect recycling at OSU Commencement June 11

• WHEN: Saturday, June 11, two shifts: 8:30-11:30 am and 1:45-3:45 pm
• WHERE: Reser Stadium (meet at the loading dock on 26th St, across from LaSells and behind the row of hedges)
• WHAT: In the morning, 8:30-11:30 am, we will staff the stadium gates to help Commencement attendees sort their waste into recycling and trash. In the afternoon, 1:45-3:45 pm, we will collect recycling from the stadium stands and grounds before the cleaning crew cleans.

Staff recycling stations at the da Vinci Days Festival July 15-17

• WHEN: Friday-Sunday, July 15-17, please see the signup form for shift times
• WHERE: Lower campus lawn, near Jefferson and 11th
• WHAT: We are continuing our work started in 2010 to move da Vinci Days toward becoming a zero waste festival, and we need your help! Sign up for 4 hours or more of volunteering at our festival waste stations and receive FREE ADMISSION for the whole weekend!

UPCOMING EVENTS

 

Bike Extravaganza this Thursday!

• WHEN: Thursday (5/19), 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
• WHERE: MU Brick Mall
• WHAT: Join the SSI Transportation Group, ASOSU, and Surplus Property in the MU Quad Brick Mall on Thursday, May 19 from 11:00 - 3:00 and give your trusty bicycle a make-over! Featuring a bicycle decorating station and lots of free giveaway items (including lights!) Basic bike tune-ups, registration, and informational materials will be provided by the Corvallis Bicycle Collective, Public Safety, and OSU Alternative Transportation Advisory Committee. Even if you do not yet own a bike, it is an event not to be missed: come find out about used bikes for sale through OSU Surplus. 2011 Sustainability Celebration: Highlights and Next Steps

• WHEN: Wednesday (5/25), 5:00 to 7:00 PM
• WHERE: MU 109
• WHAT: Are you interested in the sustainability of OSU? If so, you should come to the 2011 Sustainability Celebration,  an inter-departmental effort to reflect on the highlights and lessons of this year and begin planning out the steps needed to achieve even more next year. Free American Dream pizza will be provided as refreshments during our break-out session. Please come with feedback, suggestions, and friends. The more the merrier.
