Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone in this group has tried to calibrate Hydrus-1D using OSTRICH. So far, I am able to run Hydrus from the command line (cmd) using a batch (*.bat) file. The *.bat file contains the pathline (where Hydrus exe file is located) and the *.bat file calls exe file. There are five input files which are used for run Hydrus; however, only one input file contains the parameters (changeable in each iteration). But Hydrus cannot run without any of these five files. Now, my problem is how can I write the input and template files for OSTRICH to calibrate Hydrus? How should I include all the five input files of Hydrus in ostIN.txt and template files?
Any help on how to get started with this would be great.

Hi Md.,

I'm not familiar with HYDRUS but it sounds like the other 4 HYDRUS input files would be considered "extra" files by OSTRICH and should be placed in the "ExtraFiles" section.

Thanks,

Hi Md.
This might be more of a Hydrus question that you are asking.
You don't need to include the Hydrus.exe pathline in batch file. You can add the following to the folder with your batch file: 1) A subdirectory with your model files, 2) A file called 'Level_01.dir'. Level_01.dir just has the name of your subdirectory, and 3) your batch file.
Add the Hydrus file path to your environment variables (i.e., right click My Computer from the start menu -> select Properties -> select Advanced System Settings -> select the Advanced tab -> select Environment Variables. Under 'User variables for Administrator', create a variable called PATH if it is not there already. Edit the PATH variable by adding the path to Hydrus. This path should be C:\Program Files (x86)\PC-Progress\Hydrus-1D 4.xx).

Now in your batch file the only command should be
H1D_CALC

H1D_CALC.exe is an executable in your Hydrus-1D 4.xx folder.

After completing these steps (and specifying the extra files as instructed by L. Shawn Matott) OSTRICH should work for you with Hydrus.
Good luck.

Hi Dan,
Thank you so much for your response. I am already able to set up ostrich for Hydrus as I posted the question long ago. However, your response confirms that our set up steps were correct.
I appreciate your attention to my queries.
Thank you
Shahab
