Hello user,

i setup my SWAT model using Arc interface with 45 subbasins and 10000 HRUs. I have five streamflow monitoring stations. There are around 27 parameters (based on literature) that affect streamflow. I am very new to Ostrich and would appreciate any input to calibrating my model using Ostrich. Any thoughts on how to define parameter in the OstIn.txt?

Thanks,

Ameer

Hi Ameer,

The Ostrich user manual provides a detailed description of how parameters are defined in OstIn.txt. If you are looking for general guidance on how to setup OstIn.txt the user's manual is the best place to go along with some of the examples that are provided.

When I work with EC-HBV calibration, I went through the Ostrich user manual. While it is very helpful, it still cannot provide every detail to run the Ostrich easily. This might be the future direction for Ostrich, i.e., make it real easy for most hydrologists to use it. This could include a new graphic based interface similar as SWAT-CUP, or examples with detailed explanations on formats.

Hi Ameer,

You might take a look at a presentation from Dr. Bryan Tolson, available in the following link:

It is not specific to SWAT but might give you some insight into how to setup OSTRICH.

Also, one of Dr. Tolson's former students (Dr. Saman Razavi) successfully applied OSTRICH to SWAT and published the results in the following paper:

So you might take a look at that paper for ideas that are specific to SWAT.

Thanks,

--- Shawn

Thank you Shawn,
Wow- Can't believe i am looking at this after one year. Although, i ended up using SWAT-CUP and have completed my studies, I would highly encourage all those who uses Ostrich to actively contribute to this group. I am heading down to take the Waterloo modelling course this year aiming to gain more insight on Ostrich and modelling in general.
