Dear all
I am using Water quality analysis and simulation program (WASP8) and currently i am involved in calibrating the model.
I am very new to this calibrating tool and i am facing following problems:

1.I do not know how to create model input file (input.dat) for WASP8. please help me how do we get the model input file.

2 since i want to calibrate 6 time series variables  (DO, BOD, WTEMP, nitrate, Phosphate, Ammonia) at the same time. How can i enter the all these 6 observed variables together in OstIn.txt? Is it even  possible to calibrate all the variables together?

I have referred the ostrich manual, however i am not able to proceed because of above two problems.

please someone guide me with as to how to proceed.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
kind regards

Hi Vasker,

This is intended to be a user group for the OSTRICH tool. For questions about creating a WASP input file you might be better off asking over at their user group:

http://epawasp.twool.com/

For time series analysis, it is possible to include all of the observations in a given time series to OSTRICH. However, there will be lot's of correlation among the observations. I gather most people would down-sample and focus on matching peaks and valleys of the time series rather than the full set of observations.

Finally, I don't think WASP generates an output file that can be readily parsed by OSTRICH ---- things may have changed as I haven't used WASP since version 5. You'll need to identify the output format for WASP8 files (maybe netcdf? or hdf5?) and then try to find a module in Python or R that can assist you to extract the simulated equivalents.

Good luck!

Thanks,
