2nd Ostomy Meeting Group restart - @ Sunrise Hospital

Hi All:

I know it's been a while.  I've been down with medical issues, and I apologize for not communicating sooner.  We've had interest to restart the group at Sunrise, but also keep the Henderson group going, as we've had some good response with people from Henderson that would not go to a meeting in Las Vegas.

I do have to present some of the challenges with running a 2nd group.

1.  I'd not always be able to be at the meetings, as I am in a new job role for my work that has me traveling during the week a good amount of the year.

2.  We need a vice president, as we lost Linda Ferguson in the spring. I'd really like to encourage you all to think about helping with the group.  The number of ostomates in Las Vegas is increasing, so our group is so necessary. Let's pay it forward.

3.  Participation to run the group and keep helping new ostomates or ostomates who did not know we exist, along with the medical community - like your doctors!

4.  Please think about an officer role for the 2015 May election.  I will not be able to continue as president, but will be happy to take a lesser role.  We need your help to exist and help others.

5.  I am also working on Ostomy Visitor training Certification.  We'll do one in Henderson in October for the Saturday meeting.  We'll do one close to the beginning of a new group at Sunrise if the response is positive.  We need visitors to help encourage new ostomates - Remember how you felt at the beginning and if you didn't have a certified visitor, how frustrating it was for you.  Let's try to help as many as we can.

Sunrise is interested in having us come back, as well as Dr. Thornton.  If anyone has any "press" contacts, or other ways to promote the group, please let me know.
