Hello team,

My requirement is to generate IPv6 traffic with Hop by hop options header and I understand that otinato can do that for me. So I am trying to install it on my ubuntu machine but no success. Can you please help me ? I have mentioned details below:

My machine (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS):

maninder@LenovoG500:~$ uname -a

Linux LenovoG500 3.5.0-23-generic #35~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 25 17:15:33 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Instructions I am following:

For xUbuntu 12.04 run the following:

sudo sh -c "echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/pstavirs:/ostinato/xUbuntu_12.04/ /' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ostinato.list"
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ostinato

Error:
maninder@LenovoG500:~$ sudo apt-get install ostinatio

E: Unable to locate package ostinatio

Oh thanks Carlos, that was a dumb mistake I was making repeatedly.

Well, I don't see any options to create IPv6 packets with hop by hop options header. Is it possible at all in ostinato?

Thanks
Maninder

Maninder,

Yes, it is possible!

You will have to use the hexdump protocol to manually fill in the hop
by hop extension header or alternatively use the userscript protocol
to simulate the same.
