I am looking for a date of death for Klaas Kriens, born 1841, died 8 July
1920 in Stephenson County, IL and buried in the Silver Creek Cemetery. (Not
his same-named son who died in 1943.) There is no obituary, nothing in
IRAD; nothing in Ancestry or FS, including the catalog or Full Text Search.
He isn't even listed in the indexes of death. I have the date from the
narrative in FindAGrave, and an incomplete reference to the Boyken book
"Ostfriesens in Amerika" which indicate the date of death.

I was thinking perhaps the Silver Creek Cemetery would have a record of the
burial. Is this the cemetery related to the Grace Valley Christian
Reformed church or some other? any recommendations as to who I ought to
write to obtain the record?

I am looking for something more authoritative than an index or a narrative
on FindAGrave. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks. I know that.

I am looking for an authoritative source (not an index; not FindAGrave)
that gives me the full date. This is usually the church burial record or a
death certificate

Hi Jill,

Forgive me if you already found this:

Silver Creek Reformed Church web site https://silvercreekrca.org/ +1 815
362 2129 silvercreekr...@gmail.com3 26 S Bunker Hill Rd, German
Valley, IL The church record book could be in the church office.

I would think the records from the 1900s would be easy to read. My dad was
a pastor and enjoyed looking up genealogy requests in the old church record
books, in the years before copy machines and such. (1970s)

thanks Roger.

This is helpful, when I start doing the work to find the father of Klaas.

I am interested right now as to an authoritative source (not the OSB German Valley or FindaGrave) for the death of KK. death certificate, church burial record record (not the tombstone which only has the year) or even an obituary.

Are you related to Klaas Kriens?  if so, how and have you taken a DNA test?

Jill
