      Arignar Anna's Achievements

      Arignar Anna was not only a prolific writer and speaker, but also a visionary leader who made significant contributions to the social, cultural and political development of Tamil Nadu. Some of his achievements are:

        • He legalised Self-respect marriages for the first time in the country. The law was passed by the Tamil Nadu assembly on November 27, 1967, and was approved by the President on January 17, 1968.
