Damn...just when I thought I had gotten past my compilation
problems...

At the very end of the installation process (Ubuntu 10.04), I got a
message that I missed the first time:

chown: invalid group: `root:ossec'

When I go to /var, there is no ossec directory so the install pooped
the bed at some point. I am running the install with root privileges
and I had just gotten past a previous issue:
https://groups.google.com/group/ossec-list/browse_thread/thread/91caf3f5f4dcc79f

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

There's something odd with your install of ubuntu. I just installed
2.5.1 on ubuntu 10.04 lts server (default install + gcc), and did not
have any issues.
You'll have to give us more information about your setup, and what you're doing.
