Well that was easy (does that sound sarcastic?). I installed the 32-bit Java runtime environment, so now I have two JREs: 32-bit one in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_73 and 64-bit one in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_73

Dude I had to make an account just to thank you. I had an install script error for the version of java that the launcher suggests, and many people online have had the same issue with no resolution. Java just wouldn't install. I tried a different version here : =8 but the launcher didn't pick it up. If anyone else gets the error "script error line 1 char 1 expected')' " then this worked for me. Download a java runtime from somewhere other than the normal website like the one I listed (which is where microsoft sends you to when looking for java 8), then follow the steps above. To create a reg file easily I searched registry editor in the task bar, navigated to one of the locations above, exported it as a .reg file then copied the info above into the file. After that I edited the paths with my own (make sure to use the double back slash \\), saved the file, then double clicked it to run and the launcher found it and worked fine. Again thanks to you Nyuno! Lifesaver!

I am running Windows 10. I currently have Java 1.8.0_231 (64 bit) installed. JAVA_HOME points to the JRE directory, and the JRE\bin is in my path. Whenever I just run sql.exe at a command prompt, it displays This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.8.0_150 and kicks off a browser pointing to a Java download. However, if I use Cygwin Bash to run the sql script it runs and I can run the sql script in the Ubuntu WSL without problem as well. Any ideas on what I need to do to run sql.exe in Windows?

Hey, I've found the java version that is necessary: here is the download link: = _01/jre-1_5_0_01-windows-i586-p.exe
I've tried it on windows xp, and it works, I did it virtualy.
I think if java 5.0 is installed on the system, his program will work
I've put the java version I used in this message if you do not wish to create an account at oracle.

The solution is to download the .jar file instead of the Windows EXE version. Install a JRE like Microsoft's rendition of OpenJDK (link - hope it's permanent). Get the .msi package and install it like any other application.
-us/java/openjdk/download

Happens to me too.. I cant play because of that. I tried reinstalling the game but it works for sometime then it auto closes and keeps repeating the java runtime error. Im now piss because it happens in the new update. I hope some devs or mods have solution for this i have tournament in 17 and i have to submit my team tommorow

This works for some people, if not I'd recommend ensuring that if you have installed Java 11 already that it is actively being recognised by your System, as old Java versions are known to contradict with newer ones.

You can do this by inputting the command java -version into your respective Terminal / Command Prompt.

If you get the message;

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

This means Java may not be installed correctly, I'd suggest completely uninstalling any Java version you may have installed;

Go to the Windows Start Button and select Settings then Control Panel.
Click Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel list.
Find Java in the list and uninstall it.

Then install Java 11 (LTS) via this link (scroll to bottom of the page), ensure that the OS and Architecture match your devices.

=java-11-lts&package=jdk

If you get a response from the java -version command, this may mean that Java is installed but misconfigured, I'd advise checking this link for some help on what to do in that situation;

I had a similar problem, but STM32CubeMX was already installed in my machine. I couldn't use the software after I removed Oracle JRE in favor of OpenJDK. The message was the same as yours: "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.8.0_45".

The JDK and JRE interact with one another to create a sustainable runtime environment that enables the seamless execution of Java-based applications in virtually any operating system. The following make up the JRE runtime architecture:

It's not the computer that is 32 bit but rather that the line6 editor is trying to download it. The computer is a new i9 Windows 11 x64.

If you look where the app is installed, it's installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Line6\ which is used for 32-bit architecture.

When installing it flashes a warning saying it needs the runtime, attempts to download it with a "Connecting" message then fails with another error message with no specifics given. When you run the app, it then gives you the message, "This application requires a 32-bit Java Runtime environment 1.6.0". It sends you to the JRE download but only 64-bit is available, I believe as I cannot find any 32-bit versions on the Java site. Only options appear to be on online file archives and they make me nervous, even though I have BitDefender.

Same error for Windows 10. So, if for any reason you lose your Line 6 edit installation (as I did) you can't reinstall.

Problem solved although I'm not crazy about having old Java on my PC.

I found the Java archives and figured out what appears to be the last version to support 32-bit Java (indicated by windows-i586 in the name, I guess named after Intel Pentiums): -later-archive-downloads.html

This requires that you create an Oracle account. You have to be sure you are signed in when you are on the link above or the download won't work so check the "Accounts" icon in the top right if you have trouble..

I downloaded and ran the file jre-8u311-windows-i586.exe and this time when I ran Line 6 edit, it ran as expected and connected to my Pod 2. and I am back in business! I hope this helps someone!

Anyway, I was looking for something that acted globally, like a config or setting (sneaky too :-)), who let open any UI Java App without giving error message:
"This application requires that java 11 or later be installed on your computer."

The final result that is this setting through jEnv is completely ignored by UI Java Apps, and still get error:
"This application requires that java 11 or later be installed on your computer."

After trying, both ways don't work at the moment in my environment with Big Sur 11.6.1.

That one with jEnv don't work in opposition to what jEnv macos-javahome command says. Here it also seems that Java UI Apps completely ignore JAVA_HOME environment variable, whether it is set through shell (ex. zsh) or jEnv macos-javahome.

That one with OpenJDK modification, apparently jEdit App isn't looking for those JVM capabilities in OpenJDK's Contents/Info.plist.

The script does a little trick where it creates a symlink to the current 'java' executable in the /Library/jEdit/jvm/ directory with the name 'jEdit' and uses THAT to launch the JVM. The reason we do this is so that Mac OS sees the process name as 'jEdit' and displays that above the Dock icon, as the current "-Xdock:name" parameter behavior doesn't set that correctly. It does correct the name in the menu bar so we still want that X parameter set. The creation/deletion of this symlink under the path "/Library/jEdit/jvm/" means it is in user-space and shouldn't trip on anything.

I've had some recent problems with my computer. Now I can't install PWCG BOS, RoF. What I get is a message window like this; "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.7.0 - 2.0.0." I can't seem to find any reference here. Am I the only one this problem?

Installing Eclipse is relatively easy, but does involve a few steps and software from at least two different sources. Eclipse is a Java-based application and, as such, requires a Java Runtime Environment or Java Development Kit (JRE or JDK) in order to run.

I have redownloaded forge numerous times trying to get it to install with a windows installer with no luck. It keeps throwing me the error "A java runtime environment 1.6.0 is required to run this application".

The Jenkins project is committed to delivering a world-class platform experience for end users and developers alike.At the core of this experience is Java, an object-oriented programming language with a cross-platform runtime in the form of the Java virtual machine (JVM).Since its inception, the Jenkins project has been a major consumer of Java, distributing over 1,800 plugins to an installed base of over 300,000 controllers,and Jenkins regularly appears on lists of the top Java applications of all time.

If you are using a Docker image to run both the agent Java process (i.e., remoting.jar) and your own application build and your application build still requires Java 8,you will need to provide a Java 11 or newer runtime for the Jenkins agent process and a Java 8 environment for your application build.

When you install Java (JRE) and try build your app, the build now finds Javas JRE which has everything it is needs to run Java but not build it, this is why the new error is Could not find tools.jar.. The JDK includes the compiler (javac) and tools (like javadoc and jdb) and is what is needed to build your app. You then fixed the second error by forcing gradle (build tool) to look in the correct folder for your JDK.

The App Engine standard environment Java runtime supports GraalVM native imageexecutables. Once you have compiled your Java app into a GraalVM nativeimage, you can use the entrypoint setting in yourapp.yaml fileto point to the executable.
