Hi All,

I discovered a new Osprey nest being built on a light pole near the Newport Beach Back Bay at a park the other day.

The nest is on a Park lightpole.

Does anyone know if I need to ask the city to leave the light off?  They will be playing a baseball game this Tuesday.  From all appearances, I don't think this nest was even hear last Tuesday with as little nesting material that was there last Thursday.

I attached a couple of images for reference.

Thank you,

Well, they probably need to turn it off after the game and leave it off whenever possible. When we had the one catch on fire it was because they forgot to turn the lights off and they were on for 24 hours.

Your welcome.  You could consider asking the city to make this field avian safe  by attaching a platform above the lights.  If you need photos of that kind of set up I can send them to you.
