The ospreys had a tough day here Friday with a couple of nests
coming down in high winds. One nest came down with the whole tree. We put
a platform up in the roost tree and made a nest on it and put the baby back
today. He had a nice full crop when he went up and the ospreys circled the
tree while the climber was working. I hope they return very quickly.

So do I.  I talked with 3 federally and state permitted folks who all said put back is the best chance, please put him back.  So far the parents have not returned, the weather changed to rain and the nest may be unguarded for the night. Monitors will be watching all day tomorrow.  Our tree climber had to be up there for a long time to get that done.  Another osprey mother from a nearby platform kept flying around the tree while the climber was up there.

On Saturday we had a female osprey electrocuted not far from her nest.  The male had to leave to get food in the morning and one of the osprey chicks wound up on the ground with a wing injury.  It looked like predation to me.  That leaves the male and 1 chick at the nest.  I have a feeling the other chick won’t make it.
