Satellite tagged birds heading north

Four of our 7 tagged birds are moving north. North Fork Bob left 5 days earlier than either of the two previous years we followed him. Sr. Bones usually leaves on the 20th, so he's probably packing his bags. Our two youngsters (class of 2010 and 2011) haven't started moving yet. Teenagers always get up late!

Most exciting is the reappearance of our cell-tower transmitter birds, Bridger and Rammie, who rather miraculously found cell towers down in very, very remote corners of South America. We hadn't heard from either in months and didn't know if they were alive. They're both fine and both heading home. Check it out at the site:

Make that 5! Sr. Bones took off right on schedule on the 20th (or so) and is about to cross the Caribbean. North Fork Bob is already across, and Bridgewater Art finally got moving and is now heading in the right direction. Bob and Art's maps are updated. We'll get more data on all three of them (Bob, Art, and Bones) tomorrow when they should be even closer to home.
