jenlovesbones on twitter was kind enough to share her theory about the change in clock time. I tried to poke holes in her theory, but all I ended up doing was gathering further evidence to support it!
The ringtone based on 'The Bones' is a spirited, if slightly abridged version of the original version. While it drops the violin hook which at times can dominate the latter half of the song, it still packs a punch with its subtle and yet powerful lyrics, evocative instrumental elements, and of course Morris' seductive, melodious vocals. As the chorus begins to swell, an alluring chord progression that carries a sense of resilience takes over and provides the perfect bit of spark needed to set the tone.
The Bones' ringtone is certainly of a piece with its source material, but with a few clever flourishes and a feeling of strength, its own originality. It serves as a reminder that a good song's beauty can never be diminished, no matter how scaled back its execution.
I heard about people making custom ringtones using songs, so I decided to take one of the songs from the CD and add it to my iPhone 5S. I have a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 5S. You need iTunes, the connector cable and your iPhone.
Start by choosing the song you want to use for your ringtone. I chose Track 11 Intro by B Team. You can't use more than 30 seconds as a ringtone, so you will need to trim your choice to make your ringtone.
Now drag your m4r file to your Ringtone (Tones) folder on iTunes. Connect your iPhone and do a SYNC. Once you've synced, tap your Settings app>Sounds>Ringtone. Your custom ringtone should be on top. Choose it to make it be your default ring, or in my case I assigned it to each of the Bones Brigade. Have FUN.
