Device: Samsung Galaxy Xcover2 (GT-S7710),
Android 4.1.2
Vespucci 0.9.6r996

"Follow GPS position" and "Go to GPS position" don't work when GPS position is displayed. I have to switch off "Show GPS position" and only then "Go to GPS position" goes to current position (otherwise it shows the last position I have successfully updated).

"Go to GPS position" automatically switches "Show GPS position" on, so I have to repeat the procedure every time i want Vespucci to show current position.
"Follow GPS position" also switches "Show GPS position" on and then GPS pointer doesn't move until I switch it off, which makes "Follow GPS position" unusable.

For me, instant access to current GPS position is the main reason to use OSM editor on android...

It would be preferable if issues that need resolving are added to the issue tracker on github https://github.com/MarcusWolschon/osmeditor4android/issues

Wrt the issue in question, it is not quite clear what you are trying to do / what is not working. The normal modus operandi would be: turn on "Follow GPS position" (you get outlined arrow symbol), if you are at the position you want to edit something, do that, typically you will then get the solid arrow (which implies that  "Follow GPS position" has been turned off), once you are finished you should simply touch the arrow icon and it will switch back to the auto-follow mode, the outline arrow and center on the current position.

The reason for the behaviour is the last thing you want when editing is for the screen to move around while you are trying to edit.

You should really only need the menu item if you've panned away so far that the arrow is no longer visible. The goto current position behaviour needs to be checked, their maybe an issue when  the last position (returned from the OS) is not/not near the current position.
